QUOTABLE
"We had some very encouraging performances this weekend," RMU head coach
Robert Weber said. "We had a novice crew racing for the first time that had some strong races, and the varsity four finished with their best race of the regatta. I'm really proud of the varsity eight, with three seniors competing in their final collegiate race, putting together a really spirited and gutsy race in the finals. All around there were efforts to be proud of."
VARSITY 4
The Colonials opened in the semifinals of the Varsity 4, closing with a time of 9:51.452 in a boat that featured two juniors and a pair of sophomores as well as a sophomore coxswain in
Ajah Edwards. In the petite final Saturday, RMU posted a time of 9:32.170.
NOVICE 4
Also seeing its first action of the 2022-23 season at the Dad Vail Regatta was the Novice 4, which posted a time of 9:03.695. The Colonials improved masterfully in the finals, claiming fourth with a time of 8:44.677 to outlast both Army (8:46.147) and Carnegie Mellon (9:23.755).
QUOTABLE
"It was a bumpy season, no doubt, full of uncertainty, inconsistency and disruption, but our student-athletes kep plugging away and ended on a high note," Weber said. "I think we accomplished a great deal in terms of development that might not be apparent on the surface right now but I believe will manifest itself in future seasons as we continue building a program that prioritizes performance."
