RMU Student-Athletes Honored by Horizon League

Total of 90 student-athletes covering 10 sports named to Horizon League Academic Honor Roll

Moon Township, Pa. – A total of 90 student-athletes across 10 sports were named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll Thursday for the 2023 spring semester.

To be eligible for the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must participate in at least one of the league's 19 sponsored sports during the most recent (or current) season, have completed three semesters (four quarters where applicable) and own a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 on a 4.00 scale.

Leading the Colonials were a trio of programs, as the RMU men's and women's soccer teams as well as softball each placed 15 student-athletes on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. Women's track & field posted 14, followed by women's basketball and volleyball with eight each, golf (5), men's cross country (3) and men's basketball (2).

A pair of Colonials named to the 2023 Horizon League Academic Honor for the spring have recorded a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average. Rising senior Jane Garver is an organizational leadership major with a 4.00 GPA, while senior Parker Johnson, a marketing major, also has compiled a perfect 4.00 GPA.

The RMU volleyball program featured five student-athletes that own a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher. Rising junior Jaidan Hockman has posted a cumulative GPA of 3.99 as a sport management major, while rising senior Emma Brown has compiled a 3.98 GPA while studying cybersecurity & digital forensics. Rising juniors Tatum Otolski (undecided business) and Abby Powers (early childhood & special education) have posted a GPA of 3.94 and 3.91, respectively, while graduate student Alyssa Hudak is pursuing a master's degree in marketing with a 3.90 GPA.

A total of 1,264 student-athletes earned Horizon League Academic Honor Roll distinction during the 2023 spring semester, with all 11 member institutions and 19 league sponsored sports represented. Women's cross country and track & field led all sports on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll with 181 student-athletes, followed by women's soccer with 167 honorees.
