SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Thalia D'Elia's overtime game-winner leads RMU to victory, beating Syracuse on the road, 4-3. RMU moved up to 10-15-0 overall on the year and 7-6-0 in the CHA. The Orange are now 5-20-2 and 2-10-1 in CHA action.
1ST PERIOD
- On RMU's first power-play chance of the game, Darci Johal cashed in a shorthanded goal for the Orange to take a 1-0 lead before the end of the first period.
- The Colonials killed off two penalties through the first 20 minutes.
2ND PERIOD
- RMU picked up the momentum in the middle frame, scoring three goals.
- Freshman Catriona Crarer hammered in her second goal of the season off an assist by Jersey Phillips and Alaina Giampietro.
- Three minutes later, Shailynn Snow diced out the netminder, scoring a breakaway goal to give RMU a 2-1 lead. From the defensive zone, Gillian Thompson and Janelle Evans worked the puck up to Snow, earning an assist.
- With 17 seconds left in the period, Courtney Hall bashed in a power-play goal, giving the Colonials a 3-1 lead heading into the second intermission. Morgan Giannone and Mya Neugent dished out the helpers on the goal.
- RMU dominated in shots on goal through the middle frame, 18-7.
3RD PERIOD
- In the third period, Syracuse fought back scoring their second goal about five minutes in.
- With a minute remaining, the Orange had their goalie pulled, adding an extra attacker on the ice. Kambel Beacom netted the tying goal, forcing overtime.
3 ON 3 OT
- Goaltender Maggie Hatch was clutch for RMU in the overtime period, making six saves and stopping a few breakaways.
- As both sides shared quality chances, the Colonials had the last say, as freshman Thalia D'Elia joined the rush and sniped in her first career game-winner. D'Elia now holds eight points in her freshman season (3-5—8) and leads all blue liners on the team in goals.
- Forwards Courtney Hall and Catriona Crarer on the ice helped set up D'Elia for her OT goal.

Shailynn Snow battled in front of shots, blocking a team-high four in the game. Captain
Allyson Hebert blocked two, reaching 50 blocks in the 2023-24 campaign. 10 total players registered a point against Syracuse. In net, Hatch stopped 40 shots. She now owns six 40+ save performances.

Logan Bittle, the Colonials continue to battle against any opponent, leading the CHA conference in blocks with 403 on the season. In their win tonight, RMU registered 15 blocked shots. Through 25 games this season, the Colonials are averaging 16.1 blocks-per-game.

After beating Syracuse tonight, 4-3 (OT), the Colonials program has officially reached 250 wins. Of those 250 wins, 131 have been conference victories and 131 have been achieved on home ice at Clearview Arena. On the road, the program now owns 106 total victories.
