FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Four Purdue Fort Wayne players score in double-digits as they defeat RMU, 68-56. With the loss, RMU slides to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the Horizon League while Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 10-5 overall and a 4-1 mark in the conference.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
With 1:48 remaining in the first quarter and the score 16-13 in favor of the Mastodons, Purdue Fort Wayne drained back to back three-pointers to give them the quick nine-point advantage. The home team made over 51 percent of their shots and had four made baskets from beyond the arc, which was the most they had in any quarter.
The Colonials were down by 20 to start the final quarter when the tide started to turn and RMU ended up out-scoring the Mastodons 20-12 in the final frame. RMU was 12-14 from the free throw line which was their most makes from the charity stripe in any quarter this season. Freshman guard
Madison O'Dell had an outstanding nine made free throws in the fourth quarter to help put the pressure on Purdue Fort Wayne.
BENCH DELIVERY
The Colonials bench finished the game with 33 points compared to Purdue Fort Wayne and their 14 bench points in the contest. Scoring contributions in the second half from
Natalie Johnson,
Paris Kirk,
Eden Monka, and
Rebecca Dwomoh helped the RMU offense sustain possessions and put up more points in the final half of play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
O'Dell led RMU in scoring as she finished with 11 points and was the lone Colonial to hit double figures in points.
Louella Allana and
Danielle Vuletich both chipped in eight points as Vuletich also added nine rebounds to her stat line. Johnson played a solid game with six points, four boards, two steals, and two assists.
