RMU Women's Hockey Takes on Non-Conference Battle at Saint Anselm

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team heads to Saint Anselm for a two-game non-conference series this weekend. The opener is set for Friday, October 25 at 4:00 PM, with the finale on Saturday, October 26 at 12:00 PM. Both games will be streamed on FloCollege.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU (3-5-0, 0-0-0 #AHA) comes into the series after being swept by No. 14 Princeton at home. In those games, Veronica Bac scored her fourth power-play goal of the season, while Alaina Giampietro added her first goal of the year. Freshmen Mya Kearns and Shayne Desjardins also notched their first career assists. Captain Allyson Hebert continues to lead the team with 30 blocks, and goaltender Maggie Hatch boasts a .917 save percentage.
 
UPCOMING MILESTONES
Graduate forward Mya Neugent is approaching a major milestone as she closes in on her 100th career game. Through 98 games, she has tallied nine goals, 11 assists, and 30 blocks. Meanwhile, sophomore goaltender Maggie Hatch is nearing 1,000 career saves, currently sitting at 978 saves across 30 games with a .921 save percentage and 12 wins.
 
POWER-PLAY SPECIALIST
Graduate forward Veronica Bac is tied for the national lead in power-play goals, with four so far this season. The Huntley, Ill., native has recorded 18 goals and five assists over her collegiate career.
 
ALL-TIME VS. SAINT ANSELM
RMU faced Saint Anselm for the first-time last season, sweeping the Hawks in a two-game home series with 6-1 and 6-4 victories. Morgan Giannone led the Colonials in scoring that weekend with two goals and four assists, while Janelle Evans (2g, 3a), Alaina Giampietro (2g, 2a), Madison Primeau (2g,1a) and Mya Neugent (1g,2a) also had standout performances. Kaitlyn Schooley also scored her first career goal in the home opener. Goaltender Maggie Hatch made 31 saves in the first game, while Emma Gorski stopped 23 shots in her home ice debut for the Colonials.
 
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
Saint Anselm (3-4-0, 3-1-0 #NEWHA) comes off a tough 9-0 loss to Yale. Prior to that, the Hawks secured three wins in their first four conference games. Senior forward Gracee Donovan leads the team in scoring with six points (3g, 3a), while Tyra Turner has a team-high four goals. Defensively, Brenna Young and Justyce Ohlgren have each blocked nine shots. Saint Anselm has rotated four goaltenders this season, with Annabella Lalande leading in minutes played and Carina Mancini earning one shutout.
 
UP NEXT
Following the series at Saint Anselm, RMU will kick off conference play with a two-game set at RIT. The series opener is scheduled for Friday, November 1 at 6:00 PM, with the second game on Saturday, November 2 at 3:00 PM.
