MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team was unable to find the back of the net, falling 2-0 to Mercyhurst on Friday night. The loss drops the Colonials to 5-7-1 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.
FIRST PERIOD
- The first period saw both teams fail to score, with Mercyhurst outshooting RMU 10-4.
- The Colonials had two power-play opportunities but managed just one shot during the man advantage.
SECOND PERIOD
- Mercyhurst broke the deadlock early in the second period and continued to pressure, outshooting RMU 16-5 in the frame.
THIRD PERIOD
- In the final period, the Lakers added an insurance goal with five minutes remaining. Although the goal underwent video review, it stood as called.
- RMU pulled their goaltender with four minutes left but couldn't capitalize offensively.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Mercyhurst outshot RMU 38-19. The Colonials went 0-for-3 on the power-play and played a disciplined game, taking no penalties.
Mya Neugent and
Janelle Evans led RMU offensively with four shots each, while Evans also tallied a team-high eight faceoff wins. The Colonials blocked 14 shots, compared to Mercyhurst's 10. In net,
Maggie Hatch delivered a strong performance, making 36 saves.

The Colonials will look to bounce back and split the series against Mercyhurst tomorrow. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 PM at Clearview Arena.
