MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU Men's Basketball team opens the 2024-25 season at West Virginia on Monday evening. Tipoff at the WVU Coliseum is at 7 p.m.
RMU LATELY
RMU played its only exhibition game at Villanova on October 27. Despite leading 27-26 with 4:33 left in the 1
st half, the Wildcats would close out on a 16-8 run to take a 42-35 lead into halftime and finish with an 87-73 victory. Four Colonials scored in double-figures with
Josh Omojafo and
DJ Smith leading the way with 15 points each.
Kam Woods and
Alvaro Folgueiras each scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.
WVU LATELY
The Mountaineers defeated Charleston 94-61 in its exhibition contest on October 18. WVU returns a pair of 20-point scorers in Tucker DeVries and Jayden Stone who averaged 21.6 and 20.8 points per game, respectively.
RMU AND WVU HISTORY
This series began during the 1978-79 season and was played for six straight years, going on hiatus after the 1984-85 season. The games were revived during the 1988-89 season with the teams playing for 14 consecutive years. The last contest was in 2010-11. WVU has hosted each of the 21 contest and 20 of those were played at the Coliseum with the exception of the November 27, 1999 game that was played in Fairmont, W.Va. while the Coliseum was under construction. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series 19-2, with RMU's two victories coming on November 26, 1988 and November 25, 1989. WVU has won the last 13 matchups.
RMU AND WVU LAST TIME OUT
RMU concluded a four-game road trip with an 82-49 setback at WVU on December 8, 2010. The Mountaineers outscored the Colonials 50-21 in the 2
nd half. Coron Williams and Yann Charles each had 11 points for RMU.
UP NEXT
RMU remains on the road to face Delaware on November 7. The Colonials open up their season at the UPMC Events Center on November 10.
