RMU Men’s Lacrosse Prepares for ASUN Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The RMU men's lacrosse team looks for its second ASUN championship in three years as the conference tournament commences April 30. The event will be hosted by Air Force and will take place at Falcon Stadium. RMU is the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Jacksonville at 4 p.m. (ET) | 2 p.m. (MT) in the First Round.
 
SEEDINGS
RMU finished 4-5 in the ASUN and has earned the No. 6 seed outright. Jacksonville was 8-1 in the ASUN and finished in a three-way tie for first place, but lost tiebreakers to No. 1 seed Utah and No. 2 seed Air Force. The RMU/JU winner faces Air Force on May 3 at 4 p.m. (ET) | 2 p.m. (MT). No. 4 seed Bellarmine plays No. 5 seed Cleveland State in the other First Round game. This winner of that match plays Utah on May 3 at 11 a.m.

RMU LATELY
RMU (5-9, 4-5 ASUN) wrapped up the regular season with a 14-11 setback against Air Force at Joe Walton Stadium on April 27.

In the Colonials' only neutral site match of the season, they fell to No. 20 Richmond 23-7 in Bethesda, Md.
 
JACKSONVILLE LATELY
Jacksonville (11-4, 8-1 ASUN) has won five straight matches dating back to April 6. The Dolphins ended the season with a 22-7 victory over Bellarmine on April 27.

JU won both its neutral site matches – 9-8 over Binghamton and 10-9 against High Point.
 
RMU AND JACKSONVILLE HISTORY
The teams have met 10 times, with RMU winning six – including the first four matches of the series that began in 2010.  The Colonials hold a 2-1 edge in matches played in Jacksonville, 3-2 at Joe Walton Stadium and 1-1 in neutral site matches.

The teams have squared off one time in the ASUN Championship. Despite Jacksonville scoring three goals in the final four minutes, RMU was able to hold off the Dolphins 9-8 in the first round of the ASUN Championship at Joe Walton Stadium on May 2, 2023.
 
RMU AND JACKSONVILLE LAST TIME OUT
RMU opened its 2024 ASUN season with a 13-9 setback at Jacksonville on March 16. Gavin Pedone, Ben Starkey, Elliot Holden and David Burr each had two goals for the Colonials.
 
COMMON OPPONENTS
The teams do not have any common opponents outside of the ASUN. Jacksonville fell to No. 13 Michigan 13-10 on February 27 and RMU squared off against the Wolverines in an exhibition match.
