INDIANAPOLIS – After a strong start to the 2024 season, two Colonials have been recognized with Under Armour #HLWSOC weekly awards. Freshman
Madison Hurst has been named Offensive Player of the Week, while junior
Emerson Johngarlo has been honored as Defensive Player of the Week, as announced today by the conference.
This marks the first career weekly award for both players.
Hurst made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, dishing out two assists in RMU's season-opening 5-0 victory over Le Moyne. Her playmaking ability earned her first career points as a Colonial.
Johngarlo was instrumental in securing RMU's first shutout of the season, playing all 90 minutes at center back. In addition to her defensive efforts, she made her mark on the offensive end, netting two goals off set pieces - including her first career goal and game-winning tally.
Up next, RMU will take their momentum on the road for their first away match of the season against Southern Indiana on Thursday, August 22, at 8:00 PM.
