Colonials Drop Series Finale to RIT

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team fell in the series finale to RIT, 5-1, on Saturday night at Clearview Arena. With the loss, the Colonials move to 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) play.

FIRST PERIOD
The Tigers struck first just seven minutes into the contest, as Addie Alvarez gave RIT its first lead of the weekend with an even-strength tally.

Two minutes later, RIT capitalized on its first power play opportunity. Following a scramble in front of the net, Brac Kelley pushed the puck across the line to make it 2-0.

The Tigers carried the momentum through the first 20 minutes, outshooting RMU 13-7.

SECOND PERIOD
The second period tightened up defensively, with both teams combining for only 10 shots on goal. Still, RIT managed to extend its advantage midway through the frame when Riley Gramlich scored the Tigers' second power play goal of the night, making it 3-0.

Afterward, RMU killed off another RIT power play and used that momentum to get on the board. From the blue line, Shayne Desjardins fired a wrist shot through traffic for her second goal of the season, assisted by Lindsey Smolen and Calli Arnold.

THIRD PERIOD
The Colonials generated more offense in the final frame, outshooting RIT 11-4, but couldn't find another breakthrough.

The Tigers sealed the result with an empty-net goal and another in the closing minutes to take the 5-1 victory.
