MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Robert Morris University Athletics is excited to announce the rebranding of its successful fundraising campaign, "Hockey Is The Goal", to the
RMU Hockey Excellence Fund. This rebrand reflects a bold vision for the future of RMU NCAA Ice Hockey that is centered on sustained excellence, on-campus facilities, and building a passionate community of supporters to cement RMU Hockey as "Pittsburgh's College Hockey Teams".
"The Hockey Excellence Fund means more than a name change; it's a commitment to elevate every aspect of the men's and women's ice hockey programs. The excitement is already palpable, especially with big things on the horizon", noted
TJ Brown, Senior Associate Athletic Director - Chief Revenue Officer & hockey sport administrator. "We're inviting new fans and seasoned supporters alike to join us in supporting this next great chapter of Colonial hockey."
The "Hockey Is The Goal" fund, launched in August of 2021, was more than just a fundraising campaign to reinstate RMU hockey; it was a powerful testament to the community's commitment to Division I hockey in the Pittsburgh market. It represented a grassroots effort to bring a beloved part of the university's identity back to life. The fund, now rebranded as the "Hockey Excellence Fund", continues to be a crucial pillar in securing the future of Colonial hockey and supporting the new vision of a championship-level program with state-of-the-art facilities.
A Legacy of Triumph and the Path Ahead

The program has also produced multiple Olympians and professional players, showcasing its ability to recruit & develop elite talent.
- Men's Hockey: The men's program has had significant success, with a 2014 AHA Playoff Championship that led to an NCAA Tournament appearance.
