10/16/2025 9:00:00 AM

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team hits the road for a non-conference matchup at Yale this weekend. The Colonials and Bulldogs will meet for a two-game series at Ingalls Rink, beginning Friday, October 17 at 6:00 PM, with the finale set for Saturday, October 18 at 3:00 PM. Both contests will stream live on ESPN+.

RMU LATELY
RMU (3-3-0, 1-1-0 AHA) is coming off its first Atlantic Hockey America series of the season, taking two of six possible points against RIT. In the opener, the Colonials secured a 2-1 overtime victory. Emma Goding opened the scoring on the power play, assisted by Linnea Misner and Jessica MacKinnon, before MacKinnon sealed the win in overtime off a setup from Rowyn Ringor.

The following night, RMU fell 5-1, with Shayne Desjardins notching the lone goal off assists from Calli Arnold and Lindsey Smolen.

Through six games, MacKinnon continues to pace RMU offensively, leading the team in assists (5), points (7), game-winning goals (2), and plus/minus (+5). She currently ranks tied for second in the AHA in total points. Captain Alaina Giampietro leads the team with three goals, while Desjardins anchors the blue line with a team-best 16 blocked shots. In goal, Maggie Hatch has started four games, posting a .915 save percentage.

FACEOFF SPECIALIST
MacKinnon's impact extends beyond the scoresheet. The sophomore has been dominant in the faceoff circle, winning 95 of 128 draws (74.2%), the top mark in the AHA. She's recorded at least 15 wins in five of six games this season, including a career-high 22 against Assumption (9/27).

ALL-TIME VS. YALE
This weekend marks the fifth and sixth all-time meetings between RMU and Yale, with the series currently tied 2-2. The Colonials earned back-to-back shutouts over the Bulldogs in 2011 (1-0) and 2012 (2-0). Yale swept last year's series, winning 8-1 and 5-4 in overtime. Senior Morgan Giannone recorded a goal and an assist in that series, while alternate captain Thalia D'Elia added two assists, and Mya Farr contributed a helper.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale (0-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) opens its 2025-26 campaign this weekend. The Bulldogs returned three of their top four scorers from last season, led by senior forward Carina DiAntonio (13G, 21A, 34P). Senior Jordan Ray (8G, 20A, 28P) and sophomore Cami Bell (12G, 9A, 21P) also return to anchor the attack.

Yale finished last season with a 16-13-3 overall record and a 10-10-2 mark in ECAC play. The Bulldogs defeated Dartmouth 4-1 in the First Round of the ECAC Tournament before falling to St. Lawrence in a best-of-three quarterfinal series.
