Box Score MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team fell 3-1 to Green Bay at the UPMC Events Center on Friday afternoon to open up the final series of the regular season.
Natalie Stepanovich led all players with 19 kills in the match on .271 hitting, while
Jocelyn Jourdan recorded 12 kills.
Kaitlyn Brown recorded a match-high 43 assists along with 10 digs, five kills and one ace.
Jasmine Purakal led the Colonials with 26 digs while Stepnovich (13), Jourdan (12), and Brown (10) all reached double-digit digs to round out the Colonial's statistically leaders.
Set 1: Green Bay 25, Robert Morris 15
The Colonial offense hit .079 in the first set, with
Jocelyn Jourdan and
Natalie Stepanovich each recording three kills to lead the offense. Despite both teams starting the match neck-and-neck, Green Bay quickly found its groove, going on a 3-0 run to go up 14-10 before the Colonials answered back with a kill from Stepanovich, making it 14-11. The Phoenix went back on another run, this time 4-0 to go up 18-11. A kill by Green Bay's Gillian Koning from Emma Johnson sealed the 25-15 first set win for the Phoenix.
Set 2: Robert Morris 25, Green Bay 18
A big 7-0 run by the Colonials set the tone for the second set as RMU quickly found themselves out ahead 8-1 following a Tia Shultz service ace. The Colonials continued to extend their lead, as they led the Phoenix 10-3 following another kill by Stepanovich. The Phoenix went on a 3-0 run to make it 10-6 before the Colonials went up 14-8 on a Shultz kill. An attack error by Green Bay extended the Colonials' lead to seven, with RMU up 17-10. The Colonials' extended their lead to 21-13 on a kill by Arza Eric from
Kaitlyn Brown. RMU closed out set two with a 25-18 win following Stepanovich's eighth kill of the match. In set two, RMU hit .186 while Green Bay hit .103.
Set 3: Green Bay 29, Robert Morris 27
Back-to-back kills by Eric and Brown gave the Colonials an 8-5 lead to begin the third set. A 4-0 run by the Phoenix cut the Colonials' lead down to one, with RMU still ahead of Green Bay 9-8 following an attack error by the Colonials. The Colonials went on a 3-0 run to make it 15-11 and send the match to the media timeout. A massive kill by Stepanovich and an ace from Eric made it 16-12 and forced Green Bay to take a timeout. The Colonials forced Green Bay to take their second and final timeout of the set after a Shultz Kill made it 20-15 in favor of RMU. Green Bay went on a late 3-0 run to make the score 21-19 before Stepanovich ended the run with her 12
th kill of the night.
An attack error by the Colonials made the match 24-24. Another attack error by the Colonials made it 25-24 Green Bay before an attack error by the Phoenix tied it at 25-25. A kill by Jessica Kurpeikis made it 26-25 before Eric tied it back up with a huge kill. The teams traded kills back-and-forth, with a kill by Stepanovich tying the match at 27-27. Back-to-back kills by Green Bay's Diane Pichelman gave the Phoenix a 29-27 set two win.
Set 4: Green Bay 25, Robert Morris 22
In the fourth set, RMU found themselves up 10-7 after a 3-0 run before the Phoenix broke through with a kill from Katie Schulz to make it 10-8. A big 6-0 run by Green Bay gave the Phoenix a 15-13 lead before RMU called their first timeout of the set. The Phoenix got one more point out of the timeout before RMU got one back to make it 16-14 Green Bay. An attack error by Green Bay tied the match up at 19-19, forcing Green Bay to take their first timeout of the match. The pair battled back-and-forth, but an attack error by RMU gave the Phoenix the 25-22 set win, sealing the match 3-1 for Green Bay.

RMU and Green Bay will return back to the UPMC Events Center tomorrow at noon for match two of the weekend series. The Colonials will honor their three seniors following the conclusion of the match. The match will stream tomorrow on ESPN+, while the senior ceremony will be live on YouTube.
