MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team is set for a home-and-home clash with conference foe Mercyhurst this weekend. The series begins in Erie, Pa. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Friday, November 28 at 7:00 PM before shifting to Clearview Arena on Saturday, November 29 for a 7:00 PM puck drop.
Both matchups will air live on FloHockey. Saturday night's contest will also stream on SportsNet Pittsburgh+, with commentary from Tim Benz and Mike Prisuta.
RMU LATELY
RMU (2-9-1, 2-2-0 AHA) enters the weekend looking to bounce back after a tough two-game set at Lindenwood. In the series opener, the Colonials received goals from
Michael Felsing and
Cameron Garvey, while
Braden Rourke,
Jackson Reineke, and
Ryan Taylor each found the back of the net in game two. Sophomore goaltender
Lucas Massie made his first career start in the series finale, stopping 34 shots.

Ryan Taylor pace the Colonials with eight points apiece. Klimpke and Reineke share the team lead in goals (4), while freshman playmaker
Bruce McDonald has posted a team-high seven assists.

John Babcock owns a team-high 14 blocks. Between the pipes, freshman
Charlie Schenkel has started 11 games this season, earning two wins with a .889 save percentage.
TEDDY BEAR TOSS
Saturday night marks one of the most anticipated home traditions of the season: the Teddy Bear Toss. For the past two years, captain
Cameron Garvey has delivered in the spotlight, scoring the goal in 2023-24 against No. 13 Arizona State and again in 2024-25 against AIC.
ALL-TIME VS. MERCYHURST
RMU and Mercyhurst share a rivalry that dates back to 2004. Across 47 meetings, the Colonials lead the all-time series with a 20-16-11 record. Last season, the teams split the season series 1-1-1, with RMU winning 5-2, dropping a 4-2 decision, and skating to a 3-3 tie.
Sophomore defenseman
Dominic Elliott proved especially dangerous against the Lakers a season ago, tallying three goals and two assists in three games.
Michael Craig added four assists, and Krotiris contributed a goal and two assists.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Mercyhurst (0-13-0, 0-7-0 AHA) continues to search for its first win of the season after being swept in three consecutive conference series.
Freshman Will Schumacher leads the Lakers offensively with five goals and five points, while freshman defenseman Jacob LeBlanc has added five assists. On the back end, Caleb Price has recorded a team-high 18 blocked shots. In net, freshman Edward-Charles Gravel has been the primary starter, appearing in 11 games with a .868 save percentage.
As a team, Mercyhurst averages 1.5 goals per game while allowing 5.1 goals against, with a 7.3% power-play success rate, 54.1% penalty kill, and a 48.5% faceoff win percentage.
