MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – After averaging 20.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and shooting 73.7% from the field, 57.1% from three-point range, and 80% from the foul line in RMU's two victories over first-place Cleveland State and then tied-for-second-place Purdue Fort Wayne last week, Alvaro Folgueiras has been named Horizon League Co-Player of the Week.
Folgueiras opened the week with 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, while adding 10 rebounds and three assists against CSU. His performance led RMU to its first win in Cleveland since 2009 and snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Vikings, while also marking his 11th double-double of the season. In RMU's win over PFW, he recorded a team-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, along with seven rebounds and four assists.
Currently, Folgueiras ranks nationally in the following categories:
- 9th in total rebounds (267)
- 11th in defensive rebounds per game (7.1)
- 19th in rebounds per game (9.5)
- 15th in double-doubles (11)
This is Folgueiras' third Horizon League Player of the Week honor this season. He shares the award with Nico Galette of Youngstown State. He was named Player of the Week on December 31 and February 10.
The Colonials continue their homestand at the UPMC Events Center, hosting Green Bay on Friday, February 21, before closing out their home schedule against Milwaukee on Sunday, February 23. RMU will then conclude the regular season with a road matchup against IU Indy on Thursday, February 27.
