MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU Men's Lacrosse team will play its first Northeast Conference match since 2019 on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Detroit Mercy. Faceoff time is noon.
 
BACK IN THE NEC
After a two-year hiatus, the NEC reinstated men's lacrosse in October 2023. The league initially sponsored men's lacrosse from 2010 through 2022 and has recommenced with eight competing programs – joining RMU are Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Le Moyne, LIU, Mercyhurst, VMI and Wagner. RMU, which began sponsoring men's lacrosse in 2005, spent the last three years as an associate member in the ASUN and the 2021 season as an independent. The Colonials are 5-5 in NEC openers. The 2020 season canceled before NEC play began.
 
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (3-4) fell 22-8 at No. 3/4 Penn State on March 12. RMU is looking for its first road victory of the season (0-4).
 
DETROIT MERCY LATELY
The Titans (1-3) recorded its first victory of the season in its 11-5 win at Hampton. Saturday's match is UDM's home opener.  
 
RMU AND DETROIT MERCY HISTORY
The teams have met 11 times, with RMU winning nine – including the four of the last five. The series began in 2009 with RMU taking the first five matches. The Colonials are 3-2 at Titan Stadium. UDM also played in the ASUN the last three seasons in which RMU won two of those three matchups.
 
RMU AND DETROIT MERCY LAST TIME OUT
Elliot Holden's goal nine seconds into overtime lifted the RMU men's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over Detroit Mercy on March 20, 2024 at Joe Walton Stadium.
 
COMMON OPPONENTS
Aside from the NEC opponents, RMU and UDM have Bellarmine as a common opponent. RMU fell to the Knights 13-10 as did the Titans 16-4.
