MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU Men's Lacrosse team is looking to start out the Northeast Conference 3-0 when they host Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon. Faceoff is at 1 p.m.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (5-4, 2-0 NEC) opened its Northeast Conference home schedule with a commanding 15-8 victory over Wagner on March 22.
David Burr and
Calum Brennan each scored three times, while
Luke Prezioso,
Kean Moon, and
Nick Pelletier added two goals apiece.
Nate Fechter made six saves. Brennan is fourth in the NEC with 22 goals and, along with Burr, tied for fifth in the NEC with 29 points.
MERCYHURST LATELY
The Lakers (1-7, 0-2 NEC) have dropped their last three matches, getting outscored 56-27 in the process. Their lone win of the season as a 22-6 victory at Hampton on March 2. Ryan Mahoney and Jérémi Phoenix-Lefebvre lead Mercyhurst with 23 points apiece. Tyler Moritzen has started all eight matches for MU and has a GAA of 14.23. The Lakers lead the NEC in penalty killing at 81.2%.
RMU AND MERCYHURST HISTORY
Saturday will be the first-ever matchup between the two schools.
COMMON OPPONENTS
Aside from the NEC opponents, RMU and Mercyhurst have played Bellarmine, Canisius, Richmond and St. Bonaventure.
THE LAST TIME…
The last time RMU won three straight NEC games was in 2019 when they had a four-match NEC winning streak against Saint Joseph's, Wagner, Bryant and Hobart.
