MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team opened the Barbasol Horizon League Championships with a quarterfinal round win over Northern Kentucky, 70-57. With the win, RMU advances to the Horizon League semifinals for the first time in program history.

FIRST QUARTER
- Both teams exchanged points to begin the game, But the Colonials would jump out to a 9-6 lead thanks to five early points from Raissa Nsabua.
- The Colonials shot 42 percent from the field in the stanza but most of their success came from beyond the arc as they shot 3-4 from long range.
- The key statistic in this frame was the turnover battle as the Norse turned the ball over six times while RMU had just three giveaways.
SECOND QUARTER
- RMU opened the fram with momentum as Noa Givon had a made layup followed by a Mya Murray three-pointer to put the Colonials up 24-16.
- The Norse kept pace with the Colonials as they scored 13 points in the frame, most of which coming on second chance opportunities.
- The Colonials closed the half with a six-point advantage, RMU impressively only gave up two fouls in the second quarter.
THIRD QUARTER
- RMU clearly made their halftime adjustment as the Colonials shot a game-high 58 percent from the floor and allowed the Norse to make just 18 percent of their attempts in the frame.
- Not only did Northern Kentucky struggle from the floor but they also only went 4-10 from the free-throw line in the stanza.
- In the last five minutes of the frame, RMU controlled the tempo by going on an 11-3 to close the quarter with Noa Givon tallying six points on the length Colonial run.
 FOURTH QUARTER
- The Norse tried to regain control but the Colonials opened the frame with a 15-point cushion so Northern Kentucky didn'yt have a lot of room for error in the stanza.
- With a commanding lead, RMU had to cash in at the line and did just that shooting 7-10 from the charity stripe.
- Danielle Vuletich had a standout performance in the frame going 3-3 from the field and scoring eight of her 12 points this quÂ
HISTORY MADE
With RMU's win over Northern Kentucky in the quarterfinal round, this is now the first time that the Colonials have advanced to the Horizon League semifinals since joining the conference in 2020. The Colonials have been one of the Horizon League's best teams over the last two months by commanding a 10-3 record since January 16
th.
CAREER DAY
Noa Givon had her best career performance in the postseason as she tallied a career-high 23 points to go along with no turnovers. Givon has now scored 20 plus points in two out of her last three games and has raised her yearly average to 10.7 points per game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Besides Givon leading the team in scoring, RMU was led by
Mya Murray who had 11 points to go along with a team-high four blocks and two steals.
Raissa Nsabua and
Isys Grady each had nine points with Nsabua corralling a team-high seven rebounds.
UP NEXT
The Colonials will move on to the Horizon League Championships Semifinal Round against Green Bay on Monday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Corteva Coliesum in Indianapolis.
