SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The RMU Men's Lacrosse team looks to capture its first NEC Championship since 2019 as the conference tournament commences May 1. The event will be hosted by Le Moyne and will take place at Ted Grant Field. RMU is the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 seed LIU at 12 p.m. in the semifinal round. The winner will face either No. 1 see Le Moyne or No. 4 see Detroit Mercy on May 3. The NEC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament which begins May 9.
HOW THEY GOT THERE
Both Le Moyne and RMU finished the NEC regular season with a 6-1 record, but the Dolphins will host the event along with being the No. 1 seed based on its 8-7 overtime victory over RMU on April 26. LIU, Detroit Mercy and VMI finished in a three-way tie with a 4-3 record and were all 1-1 against each other. LIU is the No. 3 seed based on its victory over Le Moyne and Detroit Mercy is the No. 4 seed based on its win over VMI.

NEC Player of the Year
Bo Columbus is the fourth Colonial to take home the honor, joining Trevor Moore (2010, 2011), Kiel Matisz (2012) and Tyson Gibson (2019). He currently owns the RMU single-season record with 190 faceoff wins which includes a 20-win effort against Mercyhurst, which is the most of any player in the NEC this season.
His 109 ground balls is five short of the single-season school record held by Mike Grosz (2012). He had an 18-ground ball match against VMI which ties the most for a single-match this season. In only three years in RMU, he has collected 233 ground balls which ranks second all-time.
BURR IS BEST
NEC Offensive Player of the Year
David Burr is the second Colonial to take home the award joining Kiel Matisz (2012). Burr finished the season with 28 goals and career-highs 23 assists, 51 points and 20 ground balls. He recorded 10 multipoint matches this season, recording points in 13 of the Colonials' 14 games. His 134 career points is eighth all-time, 88 goals is ninth and 46 is assists is seventh.
NEW ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM RECORD SET
RMU placed 10 players on the three NEC All-Conference Teams. This is the most in program history, surpassing nine players for the 2012 seasons. The six First Team All-Conference selections is the most in program history.
