Colonials Split First Day of Chick fil-A Pittsburgh Volleyball Classic

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team opened its 2025 home slate on Friday by splitting a pair of five-set battles at the UPMC Events Center. The Colonials outlasted FDU in the opener before falling to Loyola Maryland in the nightcap.

Match 1: RMU vs. FDU
  • RMU came out firing, racing to a 12-5 lead behind 17 kills and a .387 hitting percentage in the first set. Junior Jocelyn Jourdan tallied five kills as the Colonials cruised, 25-15.
  • FDU flipped the momentum in set two, jumping ahead 10-3 thanks to RMU miscues. The Knights finished with 13 kills in the frame and evened the match, 25-15.
  • Set three featured big swings both ways. After trailing 12-10, FDU used a 6-0 run to grab control, but RMU answered late with four straight points to tie it at 24. The Knights closed out the set, however, 26-24.
  • The Colonials steadied in the fourth, taking a 13-8 lead behind four kills from Jourdan. RMU never allowed FDU closer than three points the rest of the way, finishing 25-20 on a kill from Natalie Frost.
  • In the decisive fifth, RMU stormed ahead 8-1 thanks to four early FDU errors and never looked back. Freshman Tia Schultz sealed the match with the final point.
