MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team is set to continue its non-conference schedule on the road, taking on Saint Francis this Sunday, September 7 at 1:00 PM. The match will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (2-3) are coming off a close 2-1 loss to Bowling Green on Thursday. Despite outshooting the Falcons 8-3, RMU came up short. Senior captain
Paloma Swankler scored her first goal of the season, assisted by
Ava Trethewey and
Shauna Gamble. Swankler finished last campaign with six goals and five assists, ranking in the top five in both categories in the Horizon League.
So far this year, sophomore
Madison Hurst leads the team with two goals, both game-winners, while
Jillian Marvin has a team-high two assists. Defenders
Shauna Gamble and
Emerson Johngarlo have played every minute of the season (450), anchoring the backline. In net, junior
Emma Cameron has recorded two wins, two clean sheets, and 19 total saves.
SENIOR SUCCESS
RMU's five senior field players have been instrumental in the program's consistent conference playoff appearances and regular season success. The group—comprised of
Taylor Day,
Malia Kearns,
Paloma Swankler,
Jillian Marvin, and
Emerson Johngarlo—has collectively posted 33 goals, 25 assists, and 10 game-winning goals over their collegiate careers.
ALL-TIME VS. SAINT FRANCIS
This will be the 34th meeting between these two programs. The Colonials hold a 9-21-3 record against the Red Flash since 1992. In recent years, the Colonials have battled fiercely, with a narrow 1-0 loss last season and wins of 4-1 and 2-1 in the two seasons prior. Two seasons ago, Swankler and Day recorded an assist in the 4-1 win while Kearns registered an assist in the 2-1 victory in 2023.
SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis (0-4-1) enters the matchup seeking its first win of the season. The team recently earned a 1-1 tie against fellow Horizon League member Cleveland State but has since lost to Toledo and Bucknell. The Red Flash's two goals this season have been scored by freshman Riley Kerr and senior Raine Korpics. Senior goalkeeper Emma Sawich has started all five games, making 47 saves.
Last season, the Red Flash finished with a 6-9-3 overall record and a 4-5-1 mark in NEC play. As a team they averaged .94 goals per game while allowing 1.22 goals per game.
