Record-Setting Performance Earns Dickson Weekly Honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – Junior linebacker Amanuel Dickson was named the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Football Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Dickson was also recognized nationally for his performance, earning Stats Perform FCS Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention honors.

Dickson, a native of Greenville, Tenn., delivered a record-setting performance in the Colonials' setback against New Haven on Saturday afternoon. He finished with a game-high 21 tackles, including 11 solo stops and 10 assisted tackles, while adding a career-high 3.0 tackles for loss totaling eight yards and a quarterback hurry.

His 21 tackles established a new RMU single-game record, surpassing the previous mark of 20 held by Reggie Chambers (Nov. 10, 2001 at Albany) and Jordan Howard (Oct. 13, 2007 at Central Connecticut). The 21 stops are also the most recorded by an FCS player in a game this season.

Through seven games, Dickson leads the Colonials with 82 tackles, ranking first in the NEC and third nationally in the FCS. He is averaging 11.7 tackles per game and also leads the conference with 50 solo stops.

CARTER EARNS PRIME PERFORMER HONORS

Also receiving recognition from the conference was wide receiver Jaqai Carter, who was named an NEC Prime Performer following a standout performance against New Haven.

Carter hauled in nine receptions for a game-high 141 yards and one touchdown, averaging 15.7 yards per catch. He provided the Colonials' biggest offensive play of the afternoon in the fourth quarter, connecting with Carson Haggard for a 55-yard touchdown.

The 141-yard outing marked Carter's second 100-yard receiving performance of the season, while his 55-yard touchdown reception was his longest catch of the year. Carter accounted for more than half of RMU's 246 passing yards in the contest.
