RMU Women’s Hockey Begins AHA Playoffs with First Round Matchup Against Delaware

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team opens postseason play Thursday afternoon, facing Delaware in the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) First Round in St. Charles, Mo. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET, with the contest streaming live on FloHockey.
 
REGULAR SEASON IN REVIEW
RMU enters the postseason with a 12-20-2 overall record and an 8-14-2 mark in conference play, finishing sixth in the AHA standings with 28 points.
 
Offensively, Alaina Giampietro led the Colonials with 16 goals during the regular season, while Jessica MacKinnon paced the team in assists (25) and total points (39). Linemate Morgan Giannone also delivered a strong campaign, tallying 14 goals and 14 assists to rank among the team's most productive forwards.
 
On the defensive end, sophomore Shayne Desjardins continued to be one of the conference's top shot blockers, ranking second in AHA with 92 blocked shots for the second consecutive season. In net, redshirt junior Maggie Hatch anchored the Colonials with 10 victories, including six shutouts, while posting an impressive .917 save percentage.
 
MILESTONE WATCH
Juniors Thalia D'Elia and Calli Arnold are both set to appear in their 100th career game Thursday against the Blue Hens.
 
D'Elia has recorded two goals and 14 assists for 16 points this season, bringing her career totals to eight goals and 31 assists for 39 points. Arnold has added two points this season and owns nine career goals and seven assists. She also leads all active Colonials in career shorthanded goals with two.
 
CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOK
MacKinnon's 25 assists this season are tied for the sixth-most in a single season in program history, while her 39 points rank ninth all-time.
 
Giampietro continues her climb up the career charts, now with 38 goals to rank ninth in program history. The program record of 79 goals was set by Brittany Howard.
 
Hatch has also etched her name into the record book this season. Her six shutouts tied the single-season program record, while her nine career shutouts rank second all-time. She currently ranks third in career saves (2,346) and fourth in career wins (26).
 
ALL-TIME VS. DELAWARE
RMU dominated the season series against Delaware, sweeping all four meetings and outscoring the Blue Hens 19-2.
 
MacKinnon led the charge offensively, recording four goals and eight assists while averaging 3.0 points per game in the series. Following each series against Delaware, she earned AHA Forward of the Week honors.
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS
Delaware enters the postseason with a 2-30 overall record and a 1-23 mark in conference play, concluding its first regular season at the Division I level.
 
Kaitlin Finnegan leads the Blue Hens offensively with seven goals and 11 points, while Francesca Barresi and Emma MacIntyre each have six assists. Defensively, Lexie Lonask leads the AHA with 136 blocked shots. In goal, Charlotte Payne has served as Delaware's primary starter, appearing in 19 games and posting a .913 save percentage.
