MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team is set to wrap up its six-game homestand with a two-game Atlantic Hockey America series against Canisius. Game one is scheduled for Friday, February 6 at 7:00 PM, followed by game two on Saturday, February 7 at 7:00 PM. Both contests will stream live on SportsNet Pittsburgh and FloHockey, with Tim Benz and Mike Prisuta providing commentary.
RMU LATELY
RMU (7-16-3, 7-9-2 AHA) is coming off earning two of a possible six points in a series against top-seeded Bentley. After dropping the series opener, the Colonials responded with a 3-3 tie in the finale and secured the extra point in the shootout, highlighted by a goal from
Cameron Garvey and three saves from goaltender
Charlie Schenkel.
In that contest,
Jackson Reineke,
Patrick Johnson and
Michael Felsing each found the back of the net, while
Dominic Elliott,
Luke van Why,
Connor Gourley,
Bruce McDonald and
Lee Chiang all recorded assists.
Statistically, captain
Tanner Klimpke leads RMU in goals (10) and points (16), while fellow captain Garvey paces the team with 10 assists. On the defensive end,
John Babcock continues to lead Atlantic Hockey America in blocked shots, totaling 77 on the season.
ALL-TIME VS. CANISIUS
Since the program's inception in 2004, RMU holds a 24-15-4 all-time record against Canisius. The Colonials have averaged 3.74 goals per game in the series and are 12-6-1 against the Golden Griffins at Clearview Arena.
In six career games against Canisius, Klimpke and Garvey have each tallied two goals and two assists.
Luke van Why has registered four assists, while
McKay Hayes (2g, 1a) and Reineke (1g, 2a) have also found success against the Golden Griffins.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
Canisius (14-10-2, 9-7-2 AHA) enters the weekend having won six of its last seven games. The Golden Griffins are coming off series sweeps of RIT and Mercyhurst and currently sit fifth in the AHA standings.
Offensively, senior forward Grant Porter leads the team with 16 assists and 25 points, while junior forward
Walter Zacher has scored a team-high 14 goals, including four on the power play. Defensively, senior Jack Pascucci has blocked 53 shots this season. In goal, senior Chase Clark has started 20 games, posting 10 wins, one shutout and a .908 save percentage.
As a team, Canisius is averaging 3.0 goals per game while allowing 3.0. The Golden Griffins' power play is operating at a 17.0% clip, while the penalty kill ranks among the league's best at 85.9%. They have won 46.2% of their faceoffs this season.

RMU will travel for a home-and-home series against Niagara. The opener will be played in Niagara Falls on Friday, February 14 at 6:00 PM, before the Colonials return home to host the Purple Eagles on Saturday, February 15 at 7:00 PM. Both games will stream live on FloHockey, with Saturday's contest also airing on SportsNet Pittsburgh.
