BOSTON – After leading the Colonials to a Quarterfinal Round series victory over Air Force, freshman
John Babcock was named the Atlantic Hockey America Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman goaltender
Charlie Schenkel earned AHA Goaltender of the Week honors, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
This marks the second career weekly award for both Babcock and Schenkel.
Against the Falcons, Babcock was a strong two-way presence for the Colonials, recording a point in each game of the series. He finished with one goal and two assists over the three games.
Defensively, he also blocked a total of 20 shots, the most by any player during the playoff round.
In net, Schenkel started all three games for RMU, recording 141 saves while playing more than 205 minutes between the pipes. He finished the series with a .959 save percentage and a 1.75 goals-against average.
He was especially clutch in the series finale, making a program-record 60 saves to help RMU secure the series victory and advance in the playoffs.
With the selections, RMU has now earned nine weekly or monthly conference honors during the 2025-26 season:
