WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The RMU men's golf team concluded its stay in Virginia this week, securing a ninth-place finish at the highly competitive Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate. Contested over two days on the challenging layout of the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course, the tournament provided a rigorous test for the Colonials as they faced off against a deep field of regional talent.
The highlight of the tournament for RMU was a resurgent final-round performance. The Colonials showed significant growth between the second and third rounds, successfully shaving 10 strokes off their team score to improve from a 301 to a 291. This late-surge allowed the team to climb the leaderboard.
Individual performances were headlined by
Chuck Tragesser, who paced the Colonials by finishing 29th in a field of 86 players. Tragesser finished the event with a total score of 221 (+8), punctuated by a stellar even-par 71 in the final round. Following closely behind was
Chase Bokker, who earned a share of 38th place with a three-round total of 224 (+11). Bokker's final day was a highlight reel of its own, as he carded four birdies and a momentum-swinging eagle. Rounding out the RMU lineup,
Peyton Iverson finished in a tie for 46th with a 227 (+14), while
Connor McKenzie posted a 229 (+15) to finish tied for 53rd.
Up next, the Colonials will turn their attention to Indianapolis for the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational, which will take place on March 30-31.
