RMU Men’s Lacrosse Carries Eight-Game Winning Streak Into Mercyhurst

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Robert Morris heads to Erie, Pa., this Friday, April 11, for an NEC showdown against Mercyhurst. The Colonials will take the field at Saxon Stadium, with the faceoff slated for 1:00 p.m. Fans can catch RMU in action on NEC Front Row, while live statistics will be available via Sidearm.

RMU LATELY
The Colonials enter the matchup on a dominant run, having won a program-tying eight straight matches dating back to Feb. 20 to improve to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in NEC play. RMU is coming off a season-best offensive performance in a 20-9 victory over VMI, a win fueled by Dylan Anderson, who leads the league with 40 points and recently secured his fifth NEC Rookie of the Week award. The Colonials currently pace the conference with 157 goals and rank third nationally in ground balls per game, supported by Owen Tapper, who is fourth in the NCAA with 2.4 caused turnovers per game. Between the pipes, Nate Fechter anchors the RMU defense with a .555 save percentage and 9.74 goals against average, helping the team maintain its spot at the top of the conference standings.

MERCYHURST LATELY
Mercyhurst enters the contest with a 2-10 overall record and is still searching for its first NEC victory of the season after an 0-4 start in conference play. The Lakers are looking to snap a four-game losing streak, most recently falling in a 25-6 decision at LIU. While the team is 2-3 at Saxon Stadium this year, they have struggled defensively, surrendering a conference-high 183 goals so far. Offensively, the Lakers are led by Colin Tardif, who paces the roster with 18 goals and 23 total points.

RMU AND MERCYHURST HISTORY
The Colonials hold a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series against Mercyhurst. The only meeting between the two programs occurred last season, where RMU secured a convincing 17-8 victory.

RMU AND MERCYHURST LAST TIME
The Colonials extended their winning streak to four matches at the time following a dominant 17-8 victory over Mercyhurst on March 29, 2025, at Joe Walton Stadium. Calum Brennan spearheaded the offensive attack with five goals, while Kean Moon contributed four and Bo Columbus added two scores of his own. The RMU defense was anchored by Fechter, who turned away seven shots to secure the conference win. On the Lakers' side, the effort was led by Rob Madden and Ryan Mahoney, who each found the back of the net twice.

COMMON OPPONENTS
Outside of conference play, the Colonials and the Lakers shared three common opponents, with the Colonials posting a 2-1 record in those matchups. RMU secured solid victories over Bellarmine and Canisius, while Mercyhurst went 1-2 against the same group, earning a win over the Golden Griffins but falling to the Knights by eight goals. Both squads faced a tough test against St. Bonaventure, with the Colonials dropping a close three-goal decision and the Lakers also coming up short in a 12-9 battle.

OLD TEAMMATES REUNITE
The matchup features a notable local connection as RMU midfielder Luke Prezioso reunites with former teammate Sully Kish of Mercyhurst. The duo previously anchored a dominant era at Mt. Lebanon High School, where they led the Blue Devils to back-to-back WPIAL titles in 2023 and 2024.

UP NEXT
Following the trip to Erie, the Colonials return home to host LIU on April 18 for a high-stakes Senior Day celebration at Joe Walton Stadium. With RMU and the Sharks currently tied at the top of the NEC standings, the noon faceoff carries significant implications for postseason seeding. The Colonials will then officially wrap up the regular season on the road as they travel to face Wagner on April 25.
