RMU Men’s Lacrosse Closes Out Regular Season at Wagner

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Robert Morris men's lacrosse team travels to Staten Island to wrap up the 2026 regular season against Wagner College this Saturday, April 25. The Colonials (11-3, 6-0 NEC) arrive at Hameline Field looking to complete a perfect conference slate, while the Seahawks (5-7, 3-3 NEC) aim to play spoiler on their home turf. Fans can catch the noon opening faceoff live on NEC Front Row with Zach Weiss on the call, or follow along with live stats provided by Sidearm.

RMU LATELY
RMU enters the regular-season finale after clinching its first outright NEC regular-season title since 2012 following a 14-10 victory over LIU. The Colonials are currently riding a 10-game winning streak that dates back to February 20 and are looking to become just the eighth team in history to finish the NEC slate undefeated—a feat last accomplished by Saint Joseph's in 2022.

Statistically, RMU continues to be a force on both ends of the field, ranking third in the NCAA with 37.7 ground balls per game. Individually, Owen Tapper remains a defensive standout, ranking fourth nationally with 2.43 caused turnovers per game, while Nate Fechter anchors the defense with a .533 save percentage (13th in NCAA) and a 9.90 goals-against average (17th in NCAA).

WAGNER LATELY
The Seahawks enter the regular-season finale with a 4-8 overall record and a 3-3 mark in NEC play, having shown a penchant for late-game heroics with overtime wins against Mercyhurst and Le Moyne. Despite a recent setback against VMI, Wagner still has everything to play for as they return to Staten Island. A victory over the Colonials combined with a VMI loss would vault the Seahawks into the NEC Championship field, keeping their postseason hopes alive.

RMU AND WAGNER HISTORY
RMU holds a dominant 14-1 lead in the all-time series against Wagner, winning 14 consecutive matchups since 2007. While the series began with five non-conference games, the Colonials have remained undefeated against the Seahawks since NEC play officially commenced in 2011. The 14 wins are the most against any team RMU has faced in its 22-year history.

RMU AND WAGNER LAST TIME
The Colonials opened their NEC home schedule with a 15-8 victory over Wagner on March 22, 2025, led by hat tricks from David Burr and Calum Brennan. Supporting the offensive effort, Luke Prezioso, Kean Moon, and Nick Pelletier each scored twice, while Fechter recorded six saves for RMU. Despite a hat trick from Danny McMahon, the Seahawks remained winless at 0-9.

COMMON OPPONENTS
RMU and Wagner share six common NEC opponents: LIU, Detroit Mercy, Cleveland State, Le Moyne, VMI, and Mercyhurst. The Colonials dominate this group with a perfect 6-0 record, outscoring those teams by a combined 93-40. Meanwhile, the Seahawks hold a 3-3 record against the same field, highlighted by one-goal overtime wins against both Mercyhurst and Le Moyne.

UP NEXT
The Colonials will be the No. 1 seed in the 2026 NEC Men's Lacrosse Championship, which begins on Thursday, April 30 at 5 p.m.
