MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team opens the 2026 season on the road Wednesday, Aug. 12, traveling to Annapolis, Md., to face Navy at 5:00 PM at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The match will stream live on ESPN+.
KEY RETURNERS TO WATCH
RMU returns its top scorer and one of the Horizon League's top offensive threats in senior
Ava Trethewey. Last season, Trethewey totaled nine goals and 20 points, finishing second in the Horizon League in goals while earning All-Horizon League First Team honors.
The Colonials also welcome back versatile defenders and holding midfielders
Shauna Gamble and
Bailey Campbell. Both started all 17 matches in 2025 and each recorded two assists. Gamble earned All-Horizon League Third Team recognition.
Sophomore
Ivy Chaskelson also returns after making an immediate impact during her freshman campaign, leading the team with three assists. RMU will also be bolstered by senior midfielder
Julia Becerra, who has started each of the last two seasons. Becerra enters her senior campaign as one of the team's captains alongside Trethewey and Gamble.
In goal, RMU welcomes back starting goalkeeper
Emma Cameron. Cameron appeared in 15 matches in 2025, recording four shutouts and 79 saves while earning Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honors once.
KEY ADDITIONS
RMU's coaching staff was active during the offseason, bringing in reinforcements through the transfer portal. The Colonials added former Mercyhurst captains
Fiona Fraser and
Madison Sievering. Last season, Sievering recorded four goals and four assists, while Fraser added one goal and three assists for the Lakers. RMU also added
Sophia Cucchetti, who brings Horizon League experience after transferring from Cleveland State.

Michelle Rick, the Colonials also welcomed seven freshmen: defenders
Samyah Costa,
Kate Sheehan and
Addison Orehowsky; midfielders
Aleesha Chaudhri and
Vanessa Pecile; forward
Morgan Gesinski; and goalkeeper
Kally Prescott.
YEAR 3 FOR RICK
In five seasons as a head coach, Rick owns a 31-27-17 overall record. Through her first two seasons at RMU, she has guided the Colonials to 10 victories and a 6-8-6 Horizon League record. Under her leadership, RMU reached the Horizon League semifinals for the second time in program history in 2024 and had a program-record four players earn All-Horizon League honors.
ALL-TIME VS. NAVY
Wednesday marks the third meeting between the two programs. Navy earned victories in both previous matchups, including last season's meeting and the first contest in 2002.
SCOUTING NAVY
Navy enters the 2026 season after posting a 9-6-4 overall record and a 2-3-4 mark in the Patriot League in 2025. The Midshipmen return two of their top offensive players in Chiara Cosenza and Faith Graziano. Both scored four goals last season, while Cosenza also led the team with five assists.
Navy also returns starting goalkeeper Natasha Stramrood, who posted eight wins and three shutouts in 2025.
COMMON OPPONENTS
Both teams will face Youngstown State this season. Navy hosts the Penguins on Sunday, September 13, in its final non-conference match, while RMU welcomes Youngstown State to the North Athletic Complex on Saturday, October 31, in the regular season finale.

RMU will stay on the road and travel to Bowling Green for a 1:00 PM game on Sunday, August 16.
