MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team begins a four-game homestand this week, opening with Mercyhurst on Thursday, August 27 at 1:00 PM before hosting Eastern Michigan on Sunday, August 30 at 1:00 PM. Both contests will be played at the North Athletic Complex and stream live on ESPN+.
RMU LATELY
RMU (1-2) is coming off its first win of the season, a 3-1 victory over Canisius.
Alyssa Mella opened the scoring with her first goal of the season before
Sophia Cucchetti found the back of the net with the game-winning goal.
Madison Sievering added her first goal of the season later in the match.

Ava Trethewey each recorded an assist in the victory, while Sievering earned Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honors. In net,
Emma Cameron made six saves to earn her first win of the season.
Through three games, Sievering and Mella lead the Colonials with three points apiece, while senior captain
Shauna Gamble has played all 270 minutes of the season.
ALL-TIME VS. MERCYHURST
Thursday will mark the first regular-season meeting between RMU and Mercyhurst.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Mercyhurst (0-3) is still searching for its first win of the season. In its most recent contest at Toledo, the Lakers scored their first goals of the season as Sadie Lewis and Anamari Bosnjak each found the back of the net.
Sophomore defender Lexi Hammermeister leads Mercyhurst with 265 minutes played, while junior goalkeeper Adri Like has recorded eight saves through the first three games.
In 2025, the Lakers finished with a 3-13-3 overall record and went 3-6-2 in NEC play. Mercyhurst closed conference play last season with consecutive victories over Chicago State and New Haven.
ALL-TIME VS. EASTERN MICHIGAN
Sunday will mark the second meeting between RMU and Eastern Michigan. The two programs met for the first time last season, with the Eagles earning a 2-0 victory.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Michigan (1-1) opened the season with a 3-1 victory over local rival Duquesne before falling 1-0 to Horizon League member Detroit Mercy. The Eagles scheduled game against North Dakota was canceled due to weather. Eastern Michigan will face Michigan State on Thursday before traveling to Moon Township.
Through two games, Christie Fransen, Kaylee Synk and
Madison Hurst have each scored once, while Rosalie Rakacsy has recorded two assists. In net, Ella Holland has made four saves.
Last season, Eastern Michigan finished with a 6-8-6 overall record and went 4-4-4 in conference play. The Eagles return their top two goal scorers from 2025 in Olivia Sipsock, who scored eight goals, and Synk, who added three. Holland also returns in net after earning six wins with five clean sheets and 105 saves last season.
COMMON OPPONENTS
Mercyhurst opened its season against Horizon League member Oakland, falling 3-0. The Lakers and Colonials will both face Akron in September.
Eastern Michigan has also faced, or will face, several common opponents on RMU's schedule, including Detroit Mercy, Milwaukee, Bowling Green and Akron.

RMU will continue its homestand by hosting Akron on Sunday, September 6 at 1:00 PM at the North Athletic Complex. The contest will serve as Senior Day and stream live on ESPN+.
