General NCAA Compliance Guidelines for Institutional (RMU) Camps or Clinics
TIMING OF THE CAMP/CLINIC/EVENT
- No camps/clinics/events which include prospects may be conducted during a Dead Period.
- An institution's football camp or clinic may be conducted only during two periods of 15 consecutive days in the months of June and July or any calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) that includes days of those months (e.g., May 28-June 3). The dates of the two 15-day periods must be on file in the office of the AD. An institution's basketball camp or clinic may be conducted only during the months of June, July and August, or any calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) that includes days of those months (e.g., May 28-June 3).
- Camps/clinics in sports other than football and basketball are not restricted by month or season.
- Other than the prohibition on camps/clinics during Dead Periods, the interaction during camps/clinics between prospects and employed coaches is not subject to recruiting calendar restrictions. However, other coaches (not employed by the camp/clinic) wishing to attend as observers must comply with appropriate recruiting Contact and Evaluation Periods.
ATTENDEES
In football camps/clinics, a senior prospect is not permitted to enroll, participate or be employed. For purposes of this regulation, prep-school students and junior-college students are also considered "senior prospects." Camps/clinics in sports other than football are open to all entrants.
Currently-enrolled student-athletes may not participate as campers in their institution's camps.
AWARDS
Prospects may receive awards from a sports camp/clinic with the understanding that the cost of such awards is included in the admissions fees charged to participants.
EDUCATIONAL SESSION
All basketball camps/clinics must include an educational session regarding NCAA initial-eligibility standards. This educational session must be presented in-person or via video, and must include regulations related to gambling, agents, and drug use.
TRYOUTS
It is not permissible to conduct any type of "tryout event" or activity at which one or more prospects reveal, demonstrate or display their athletic abilities.
Examples of tryout activities include any camp, clinic, group workout or combine devoted to devoted to agility, flexibility, speed or strength tests for prospects at any location.
RETENTION OF CAMP/CLINIC RECORDS
Camp/Clinic records must be retained for a minimum of five years.
