RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (2/13/13)

Taking home her first career RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor is freshman Olivia Loy of the track & field. A native of Lemoyne, Pa., Loy became the third different Colonial in the last three Northeast Conference Track & Field Championships to earn an individual title in the pole vault. Loy posted a leap of 3.70 meters (12'1.50") in the pole vault to outlast Lauren McDonald of Monmouth and Elissa Ingram of Mount St. Mary's and claim the individual championship at the 2013 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Landover, Md. Her jump was also good enough to establish a new school record in the event. Loy follows in the footsteps of teammates Bethany Ledford and Casey Folga, the last two NEC champions in the pole vault. Ledford won the title at the 2012 NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, while Folga took home the championship at the 2012 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
