The 2018 campaign marks the third season for Juris Silenieks as an assistant coach with both the cross country and track & field teams at Robert Morris University.
Silenieks is in charge of middle-distance and distance runners in his role with the Colonials. In 2016, his first season with the program, Silenieks helped Maggie Prorok place fourth at the 2016 Northeast Conference Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:01.6. For her efforts, Prorok earned All-NEC accolades. Of the 13 distance runners he has overseen, Silenieks has helped 10 of those student-athletes record personal bests.
While an assistant with the track & field program, Silenieks has helped lead Robert Morris to a third- place finish at the 2018 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships as well as to fourth place at the 2018 NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Silenieks, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., is a 2016 graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science and was a member of the Orange cross country team. At Syracuse, Silenieks claimed the individual title at the John Reif Memorial 8K with a time of 24:33.7 as a senior in 2015 and also placed second at the Harry Lang Invitational with a time of 20:10.0. Also as a senior, Silenieks helped Syracuse claim the 2015 national championship in cross country.
