Dave Munoz completed his 15th season as an assistant coach at Robert Morris University in 2020-21.

Munoz has enjoyed a successful coaching career from the high school ranks and professional playing experience in California and internationally. He played a key role in the Colonials' 2015 and 2019 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship runs, which led to respective berths in the NCAA New Haven Regional and NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional.

Prior to joining the Colonials, Munoz was the head golf coach at Moon Area High School in Moon Township, Pa. for four seasons (1996-99). While there, he led his team to three consecutive section championships (1997-99), three consecutive Midwestern Athletic Conference (MAC) Championships (1997-99), a runner-up finish in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Championship (1999), and made three consecutive (1997-99) Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Championship appearances with one of his golfers, Justin Smith, who won the Pennsylvania State Championship in 1999. Smith later went on to play at the University of Minnesota where he was a three-time All-American and the medalist for the Golden Gophers as they won the 2002 NCAA Division I National Championship. After winning three times in two seasons (2005-06) on the NGA Hooters Tour and having two runner-up finishes on the Nationwide Tour, Smith retired from competitive golf in 2012 and is currently the head men’s golf coach for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Munoz is a graduate of Duquesne University where he earned his Bachelor's degree in business and leadership. He also attended Chabot College in Hayward, Calif. where he walked on to their golf program and was appointed captain his final year.  During the late 1970s, Munoz played on the highly competitive California State Amateur circuit and then played on the “Golden State Mini-Tour.” The highlight of Munoz's playing career came in 1985 when he won the Australian Invitational Golf Tournament in Sydney, Australia.

A native of Hayward, Calif., the airline business brought Munoz from Reno, Nev. to Pittsburgh in 1991.
