Mike Perrino enters his third year with the Colonials as an assistant coach/offensive coordinator.
Perrino is coming off a standout 2025 season in which Robert Morris captured both the Northeast Conference regular season and tournament championships, securing a berth in the NCAA Tournament. It was the most decorated campaign in program history, with the Colonials collecting over 15 individual accolades.
Bo Columbus and David Burr headlined the honors, each earning All-America recognition from USA Lacrosse Magazine. Columbus was also named an All-American by Inside Lacrosse, while Burr received honors from the USILA. The duo swept the NEC’s top awards, with Columbus named Player of the Year and Burr tabbed Offensive Player of the Year.
A total of nine Colonials earned All-NEC accolades: Burr, Columbus, Calum Brennan, Owen Tapper, Elijah Edwards, Gavin Pedone, Kean Moon, Nick Pelletier, and Nate Fechter. Four players were selected to the NEC All-Tournament Team, including MVP Calum Brennan, along with Fechter, Tapper, and Bobby Reaume.
As a team, RMU ranked in the Top 20 in five categories finishing second in NCAA Division I in ground balls per game (36.12), fifth in assists per game (8.5), 15th in points per game (20.4), 16th in total goals scored (203), and 20th in shot percentage (.303).
In his first season with RMU, Perrino helped guide Elliot Holden to ASUN Second Team honors after ranking second in the league with 29 assists and leading the conference with 1.9 assists per game. Burr also tied the program’s single-game record with nine points in a win over St. Bonaventure on February 20, 2024.
Holden and James Leary earned ASUN Second Team All-Conference recognition, while Fechter, Pedone, and Tapper were named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
In his lone season at Baldwin Wallace, Perrino helped the school reach new heights as their 16 straight wins were a program record.
Overall, across Division III men's lacrosse, the team ranked #1 in Goals Against Average (5.8), Save Percentage (.670) and was 18th in Goal Differential (6.2).
Upon completion of the season, Perrino mentored the 2023 OAC Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, 12 All-OAC selections, nine All-Academic student-athletes, four IMLCA All-Region players and three USILA All-American honorees.
Prior to his time at Baldwin Wallce, Perrino was an assistant coach at St. John Fisher University for one season in 2022. Perrino also put together a championship squad as the program won the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship and Tournament Championship. Along with his staff, they were named the Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year.
Across Division III, the program ranked as high as #4 by the USILA Coaches Poll during the campaign. Statistically, they finished the season ranked third in Scoring Offense (19.5 goals per game) and were second in Goal Differential (10.5).
Perrino assisted in coaching the Empire 8 Player of the Year, 16 All-Empire 8 selections, a total of nine USILA All-Americans, one USILA National Player of the Year, seven USILA All-American Academic student-athletes and saw nine individuals earn IMLCA All-Region awards.
Previously, in 2021, Perrino was on the staff at Ohio Wesleyan University taking on many roles as the Offensive Coordinator, Goalie Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.
The 2021 team ranked as high as #18 nationally in three different polls (USILA, Inside Lacrosse and US Lacrosse).
By the end of the campaign, the Battling Bishops were fourth across Division III in Goals Against Average (6.0), Goal Differential (11.1) and Scoring Offense (17.1 goals per game).
Perrino guided seven All-NCAC selections, five IMLCA All-Region players, three players earning USILA All-American awards and coached the 2021 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Beginning his coaching career in 2017, Perrino was on the staff at John Carroll University from 2017 to 2019. He was the Offensive Coordinator, Goalie Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
Boasting a resume full of championships, Perrino helped cultivate a 2017 and 2018 Regular Season Championship. Going back-to-back-to-back, the Blue Streaks won three straight OAC Tournament Championships and qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2017 and 2019, the program won the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Perrino mentored in his three years the Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019. Across those three seasons, the team garnered 26 All-OAC selections and nine All-Academic OAC honors.
Prior to coaching, Perrino played Division I lacrosse at Canisius College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. He also played professionally for two seasons with the Ohio Machine in 2017-18 in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL). As a pro-athlete, he earned an MLL Championship in 2017.
