The 2016-17 campaign marks the 10th year for Nash Oven as an assistant coach with the Robert Morris University women’s cross country and track & field programs. He is responsible for coaching the throws and the pole vault.

Oven has left his mark during his tenure with the Colonials, helping guide former student-athletes Chris Carper and Rachael Kotula to NCAA All-America status.

In 2014, Carper became the first RMU student-athlete in school history to earn NCAA All-America First Team honors by finishing fourth in the javelin at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

During his career, Carper was a four-time All-NEC selection in the javelin and participated in the 2014 NACAC Under-23 Championships as a member of Team USA in Kamloops, British Columbia. Carper was also named to the 2013 NCAA Honorable Mention All-America Team after finishing 19th in the javelin, and he was joined by Kotula, who finished 24th in the same event. Carper also competed at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

In nine seasons at Robert Morris, Oven has helped to produce 16 qualifiers for the NCAA Division I East Regional Championships. In addition, former Colonial Ashley Turici finished as the runner-up in the javelin at the 2010 IC4A/ECAC Championships. A total of 10 RMU student-athletes have earned All-East Coast honors under Oven's tutelage in the throwing events.

In all, Oven has coached over 30 RMU track & field student-athletes who have been honored as All-Northeast Conference selections.

Oven is an instructor for USATF, the sport's governing body in the United States. He holds two USATF Level II certificates in throws and sprints/hurdles.

Before his tenure at Robert Morris, Oven spent the 2006-07 campaign at Slippery Rock University, working with throws and combined events athletes. At Slippery Rock, Oven helped three athletes qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships either automatically or provisionally. During the 2005-06 season, Oven coached sprints and hurdles at NCAA Division III Babson College in Massachusetts.

A 2002 graduate of Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, Oven owns a Master's of Education in physical education, which he received in 2009 from Slippery Rock.

Oven is married to the former Amy Turian, and the couple reside in Moon Township, Pa., with their sons, Abner and Lazarus.
