On the strength of a solid collegiate debut at the CSU Dome Invitational in Cleveland, Ohio, freshman pitcher Kaitlin Ellzy has been tabbed the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 17, 2016. In three games in the circle, including two starts, Ellzy finished 2-1, allowing just two earned runs in 15.2 innings while striking out 15. In her collegiate debut, an 8-0 win over Morehead State (2/13/16), Ellzy allowed just three hits in six innings, striking out five. She also helped lead the Colonials to a 7-5 win over Niagara (2/13/16) in the second game of the day, yielding an earned run while scattering seven hits in 3.2 innings pitched. She wrapped up the weekend by striking out seven and walking a pair against Cleveland State (2/14/16).Â
