Named the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 11, 2017, is senior forward Daniel Leavens of the hockey squad. In helping the Colonials sweep American International last weekend at the RMU Island Sports Center, Leavens posted a goal and three assists. He notched the game-winning marker as well as an assist in the opening game of the series, a 3-0 Robert Morris victory. In a 4-3 win that completed RMU’s sweep, Leavens added a pair of helpers. For his efforts, Leavens, a native of Toronto, Ontario, was tabbed the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week (1/10/17). Leavens leads Atlantic Hockey in assists with 22 and ranks tenth in the NCAA in scoring thanks to 30 points. He has been honored as the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week twice this season.
