Earning the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 6, 2017, is senior linebacker Gerald Ferguson of the football team. In a 13-10 victory over Dayton (9/2) at Joe Walton Stadium to kick off the 2017 campaign, Ferguson led a defense that held the Flyers to just 257 yards of total offense. He posted a team-high eight tackles, five of which were the solo, and also recorded a sack. In the second quarter, Ferguson, a native of Delray Beach, Fla., recovered a fumble, and he was also credited with a quarterback hurry. For his efforts, Ferguson was selected as the Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 4, 2017.
