Sophomore Max Palmer of the golf team is one of two recipients of the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for April 4, 2018. Palmer, a native of Novi, Mich., finished third at the Albarta Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational (4/1/18), which was hosted by Lafayette College. Condensing the tournament to 36 holes, Palmer cared a 142 to share top honors with Jason Short of Rhode Island and Tim Umphrey of Connecticut. He finished third in the playoff. Palmer’s performance helped the Colonials finish third with a team of score of 592, five strokes off champion Rhode Island (587) and three behind Lehigh (589). Connecticut (594) and Villanova (596) rounded out the top five of a 17-team field. In the tournament, Palmer collected six birdies and an eagle. For his efforts, Palmer was named the Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week (4/4/18).
