Named the Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for April 28, 2021, is graduate student Melanie Gandy of the lacrosse team. In a 20-10 victory over Central Michigan (4/24) at Joe Walton Stadium that improved the Colonials to a perfect 7-0 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), Gandy, a native of Baltimore, Md., led the offense with eight points, scoring three goals and dishing out five assists. She was also efficient, taking just five shots on goal. Gandy also recorded a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover in the victory as RMU looks to lock up the 2021 MAC regular-season title as well as a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Gandy, who has maintained a perfect 4.00 grade point average (GPA) in pursuing a master’s degree in organizational leadership, ranks second for the Colonials in scoring with 52 points, including 21 goals and a team-high 31 helpers.
