Box Score Mankato, Minn. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team wrapped up their weekend road trip to Minnesota falling to Minnesota State 6-0. Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild) made 53 saves in her collegiate debut for the Colonials (0-2-1) in net.
MNSU (1-0-0) got on the board early with a goal from sophomore Maggie Fisher at the 8:17 mark in the first period. After the early score the Colonials defense buckled down and held the Mavericks in check through two periods of play entering the third with only a 2-0 deficit.
Robert Morris felt the fatigue of back-to-back games in the third period surrendering four goals and solidifying the victory for the home team. Minnesota State out shot Robert Morris 59-21 in the game while holding them scoreless in seven power-play opportunities.
The Colonials will return to action at RMU Island Sports Center this Friday October 6th for the 2006-07 home opener against Boston University with game time set for a 7:35 p.m. start.
