Colonials Drop 5-0 Decision to Rider

Box Score Lawrenceville, N.J. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team traveled to Lawrenceville, N.J. Friday evening to take on Northeast Conference foe Rider. The 5-0 loss dropped the Colonials to 2-10 / 0-4 NEC on the season while Rider improved to 9-4 / 2-1 NEC on the season.

Rider opened the scoring 27:00 into the game when Stephanie Walker scored an unassisted goal. Just 2:31 later Ashley Boulden made the score, 2-0, when she found the back of the net. Tricia Crotty scored two goals in under 10:00 with a Heather Connelly goal, assisted by Brittany Kennedy, sandwiched in-between giving Rider a 5-0 advantage. Maeghan Schweers tallied an assist on Crotty's first goal, while Connelly assisted her second goal.

Junior goalkeeper Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) stopped 12-of-17 shots faced for the Colonials. Krysta Bearish and Jennifer LoCastro recorded one save each for Rider.

Rider out shot the Colonials, 22-2, and held an, 18-3, edge in penalty corners.

The Colonials conclude the road portion of their schedule when they travel to West Long Branch, N.J., for an NEC showdown with Monmouth. The match is scheduled to start at Noon.
