Field Hockey Drops Hard Fought Match to Quinnipiac

Box Score Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell to Quinnipiac, 2-0, Friday afternoon in a Northeast Conference match, at Joe Walton Stadium. The Bobcats improved their record to 10-8, 6-2 NEC on the season, while the Colonials dropped to 3-13 on the season and 1-6 in the NEC.

The Bobcats first goal came from a Megan Dahle penalty stroke 16:57 into the first half. The Colonials and Bobcats would play a tight defensive game for the remainder of the half. The Bobcats added an insurance goal with 12:35 remaining in the second half when Megan Decesaris scored off a rebound from in front of the net. Megan Sciascia picked up an assist on the goal.

Junior goalkeeper Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) stopped 7-of-9 shots she faced for the Colonials, while Jenna Grossman stopped both shots she faced for the Bobcats. Sophomore forward Sarah Schrott (Quarryville, Pa. / Lancaster Christian) was credited with both shots on goal that the Colonials had during the match.

For the game the Bobcats held the edge in shots, 15-7, while the Colonials held the advantage in penalty corners, 11-9.

RMU returns to action Sunday October 29, when the Colonials close out the 2006 season against Fairfield. The match will be played at Joe Walton Stadium at Noon.
