Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team blanked cross-town foe Chatham College 13-0 Friday night at the RMU Island Sports Center.
Sophomore Megan Picinic (Cliffside Park, New Jersey / Princeton Tigerlillies) dominated the Cougars defense scoring five goals and tallying an assist in the victory.
The Colonials (3-4-1) came out of the gates firing scoring six goals and out-shooting the Cougars 22-2 in the first period alone. Picinic gave Robert Morris a 3-0 lead 7:21 into the game recording the second and fastest hat-trick in RMU women's ice hockey history. Less than a minute later Sophomore Morgan Beikirch (Livonia, New York / Buffalo Bison) took advantage of a miscommunication in the Chatham power-play stealing the puck and going one-on-one with senior goaltender Sierna Enwright for a shorthanded score. Freshman Amanda Cianculli (Billerica, Massachusetts / Billerica) and Sophomore Kristen Miles (London, Ontario / London Devillettes) pushed the lead to 6-0 with back-to-back goals 19 seconds apart forcing Chatham to call a timeout and end the barrage temporarily.
During the second and third periods the Colonials slowed down and bided their time building the lead. Sophomores Alissa Dorman (Madison, Wisconsin / Madison Capitals) and Angela Kost (Moon Township, Pa. / Ohio Flames) each added to the damage with multi-point performances.
Junior Maria Olausson (Copenhagen, Denmark / Danish National Team) led the team in points scoring one goal and racking up six assists in the game.
Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pennsylvania / Wisconsin Wild) made a comfortable 13 saves in goal earning her first career victory.
Robert Morris will have a tune up against the Junior A Hamilton Hawks as they host them in an exhibition Saturday October 28 at 7:35 p.m. before they embark on a three-week long road trip.
