Women's Ice Hockey Swept By Clarkson

Potsdam, N.Y. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team lost 3-1 to Clarkson University as they swept the two-game series Saturday afternoon at the Cheel Arena. Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild) got the nod in net today making 30 saves.

Freshman Mallory Giambra (Rochester, N.Y. / Rochester Edge) scored her first collegiate goal in the defeat.

Robert Morris played hard as the game begun, taking an early 1-0 lead 7:30 into the first period. The Colonials took full-advantage of an early power-play after Clarkson's Courtney O'Connor was sent to the box for checking. Mallory Giambra connected from line mate Samantha Ullrich (St. Louis, Mo. / Team Illinois U-19) and Kristen Miles (London, Ont. / London Devillettes) for the lone RMU goal of the game.

After the first period ended Clarkson would take over the game out-shooting the Colonials 23-4 and scoring three unanswered goals.

Genevieve Lavoie accounted for back-to-back goals for the Golden Knights, tying the game up halfway through the second period, and giving them the lead 2:54 into the third period.

Carli Eusepi sealed the win for the home team with her second goal of the season at 11:07 in the third.

The Colonials are 4-7-1 on the season.

Robert Morris will be back in action as they wrap up their three-week long road trip with a trip up to the New England region to face the University of Vermont on Saturday November 18, and Providence College on November 19, with game times set for 2:00 p.m. on both days.
