Women's Ice Hockey Blanks Vermont 2-0

Box Score Burlington, Vt. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team shutout the University of Vermont 2-0 Saturday afternoon at the Gutterson Field house in Burlington, Vt. Sophomore Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Oh. / Ohio Flames) played lights out making 21 saves en route to her third career shutout.

The Colonials played a strong defensive game against the Catamounts limiting them to 21 shots and shutting down all four power-play opportunities.

After a scoreless first period, Robert Morris jumped in the drivers seat scoring the only goals of the game in the second period.

Sophomore Alissa Dorman (Madison, Wisc. / Madison Capitals) took advantage of a blocked Megan Picinic (Cliffside, N.J. / Princeton Tigerlillies) shot, slapping in the rebound past Vermont goalie Shivaun Siegl for the game-winning goal and a 1-0 lead.

With only five minutes elapsing in the stanza, Freshman Mallory Giambra (Rochester, N.Y. / Rochester Edge) added some insurance for the Colonials on the power-play. Giambra connected in front of the net with class-mate Chelsea Walkland (Pittsford, N.Y. / Rochester Edge) burying a rocket into the upper-right corner of the goal.
