Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team fell to the second ranked and defending national champion Wisconsin 10-0. This was the highest ranked opponent the Colonials have ever faced in their two-year existence.
Sophomore Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Oh. / Ohio Flames) and Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild) combined for 28 saves in the loss.
The electricity was high in the RMU Island Sports Center with more than 700 in attendance for the Colonials Skate for the Cure event, a benefit that would see all of the proceeds from the game donated to the Glimmer of Hope foundation for breast cancer research.
Robert Morris skated tough for the beginning of the game until the Badgers showed off their fifth-ranked scoring offense unleashing four goals in the first stanza. They would go on to add three goals in the second and three more in the third period shutting out the Colonials.
Sara Bauer led the Badgers offense tallying four points in the game with two goals and two assists, while eight Wisconsin players picked up multi-point games.
RMU hosts Wisconsin in the second game of the series Saturday December 2 at the RMU Island Sports Center, game time is slated for 2:05 p.m.
