Women?s Ice Hockey Bows To # 1 Mercyhurst in CHA Opener

Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team opened up the College Hockey America leg of their schedule falling to # 1 Mercyhurst 3-0 Saturday night at the RMU Island Sports Center.

Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild) kept the Lakers offense in check making 30 saves on the evening.

Despite coming off a three-game losing streak, the Colonials (5-11-2, 0-1-0 CHA) brought everything to the table taking on the top-ranked Lakers. RMU's defense played valiantly taking away many scoring chances and killing off seven power-play opportunities.

Mercyhurst's Angelica Lorsell capped off the game-winning goal 10:21 into the first period. Meghan Agosta continued her impressive freshman campaign picking up two-points with a short-handed goal and an assist. Agosta leads the team with 30 points.

Mercyhurst out-shot Robert Morris in the game 33-6, while both teams went a combined 0-12 on the power-play.

Robert Morris wraps up their schedule for the month of December with a rematch against Mercyhurst on Sunday December 10, game time is slated for 4:05 p.m.
