Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team hosted Radford University this afternoon, at Joe Walton Stadium. Radford edged RMU, 3-1, to improve to 3-4, while the Colonials fell to 1-4 on the season.
Junior forward Gwen Dalphon (Elkton, Md. / Bohemia Manor) scored the first goal of the game 5:36 into the first half, from a pass from sophomore forward Sarah Schrott (Quarryville, Pa. / Lancaster Christian).
Radford's first goal did not come until the 52:30 mark of the second half, when they scored three goals in 4:47 to take a 3-1 lead. Megan Longtain scored two goals for Radford and Kiera Gambeski scored a lone goal during that span. Tiffany Church and Meredith Evans each tallied one assist.
Junior goalkeeper Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) made five saves on eight shots for the Colonials.
For the game Radford held a 20-3 advantage in shots and a 15-1 edge in penalty corners.
Robert Morris, under the guidance of third-year head coach Lisa Bell, returns to action Sunday, September 17, when they host Missouri State at Joe Walton Stadium. The match is slated to start at Noon.
